The University of Agriculture in Krakow derives from the Jagiellonian University, where agriculture and forestry were taught at university level since 1890. At present it is the only University of Agriculture in Poland. The University offers doctoral (PhD) and post-Master programmes. It educates specialists in the fields of agriculture, forestry, horticulture, biology, animal breeding, veterinary medicine, environmental protection, biotechnology, geodesy, environmental engineering, landscape architecture, food technology, commodity science, technology and production engineering, economics and management.
Candidates may apply to undergraduate (Bachelor) programme in the field of Agriculture carried out in English at the Faculty of Agriculture and Economics. The undergraduate programme lasts 3.5 years (7 semesters). Classes and lectures start on two dates: 1 October and 15 February. After completion the graduate will be awarded the Professional title of inżynier (engineer). The graduates may follow their education in graduate (Magister, equal to Master of Science) programme in the field of Agroecology carried out in English at the Faculty of Agriculture and Economics.
